It’s been a few months since our last blog post but there’s good reason for it! If you’ve been in our shop over the past few weeks, you might have noticed some new faces so we thought we’d put everything in one place, introduce our new team members and reintroduce more familiar faces!

First up, our new Project Manager Jenny Hunter,

Jenny is an experienced project manager, having developed projects and raised funds on behalf of a range of charitable organisations and local authorities over the past 30 years.

She studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art, is a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists and exhibits regularly. In 2021 she secured funding from Creative Scotland to develop her work in a project called Sandstone and Water inspired by Glasgow’s urban landscape.

She has been the Arts and Education manager for Dunoon Burgh Hall Trust for over 10 years managing the creative programme which included theatre, gallery and workshops. Producing ARTIST ROOMS: Andy Warhol exhibition in 2017 was a highlight and she loved working with the team as part of the £2 million pound refurbishment of the Burgh Hall.

followed by Paige Barrett, our new Creative Volunteer Coordinator

Paige is the welcoming face of volunteering at ReMode. They were previously a manager of a charity shop and were responsible for ensuring volunteers gained valuable skills and experience in a retail environment. Paige also has experience of working for other sustainable fashion CIC’s in Glasgow.

After studying Textile Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, Paige went on to gain a masters in International Fashion Marketing at Glasgow Caledonian University.

and Rachel Halliday, our Creative Programme Assistant.

Rachel started out her time at ReMode as a volunteer before becoming our Creative Programme Assistant. You’ll find Rachel helping out at workshops, in our shop and at pop up events.

Rachel regularly makes her own clothes, taking inspiration from slow fashion processes, using used fabrics that she has naturally dyed and finishing her garments off by hand.

They join Gillian Steel, ReMode’s Creative Director

Gillian is responsible for the Creative Direction of ReMode – programming all our events and activities and managing all our partnership work. She is also a regular workshop leader.

As a practising artist her focus is on developing environmentally sustainable creative practices in textile, print and garment making. She initially trained in Textile Design at Glasgow School of Art and went on to gain a postgrad diploma in Electronic Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone.

For over 25 years Gillian has exhibited and screened work across Scotland. Her career has also encompassed education and participatory practice as Cultural Coordinator for several local Authorities. As Education Officer for Local Energy Action Plan, Gillian established the Youth Engagement Programme which grew into ReMode – establishing the ReMode shop and MakeSpace in Lochwinnoch and establishing ReMode as a CIC in 2017.

and last but not least, Emma Owen, our Retail & Brand Manager.

Emma is responsible for our shop as well as our social media platforms and marketing. With over a decade of experience in the retail sector and visual merchandising, Emma has turned our bricks and mortar shop on Paisley High Street in to the Creative Hub we have today.
