Launch of ReMode@SAUWS

In August 2018 we marked the launch of our new shop and workshop space in Paisley with two events:

  • A Swish clothes swap.  Over 70 people came along for a fun and sociable evening of swishing at our ReMode shop based at the University of the West of Scotland.  There were great finds a-plenty and a chance for us to meet some of our new customers.
  • A hands-on workshop for new students as part of Fresher’s week.  Designer Iona Barker led an introductory workshop – sharing basic sewing techniques as the group got involved in re-purposing old t shirts.

ReCycle or Dye

Ongoing evening workshops for 11-18 year olds, based in the ReMode shop. Working with experienced textile designers and professionals, learn to create new looks out of old clothes, create your own clothes and accessories, upcycle old garments, and use screen-printing, paint, embroidery and other effects to transform an outfit.

Meddle & Make

Ongoing workshops open to the wider community. Have you got an item of clothing you can’t bear to throw out but don’t know how to mend? A piece you’ve been meaning to make but aren’t sure if you have the skills? Bring it along to the ReMode shop and work with our experienced design and textiles professionals, who’ll give you guidance and instruction on how to mend or completely re-make your rags!

The Meddle & Make participants may also be invited to help in ReMode’s ongoing projects to help create pieces for the shop.

Running throughout the year, our Make Weeks involve the wider community in ReMode’s make and re-design processes. Work with experienced makers and crafters to gain new skills.

This week will focus on tie-dye and dip-dying garments with one of Scotland’s brightest natural resources – locally harvested blue woad! Please don’t follow William Wallace’s example and smear it on your face…

This workshop is for ages 16+
