EVENT: The Environmental Legacy of Traditional Textiles 20th February 12-4pm

The Environmental Legacy of Traditional Textiles

Join us for an inspiring event celebrating the heritage and environmental benefits of traditional textiles. Our two engaging speakers will take you on a journey through Scotland’s textile history and share hands-on, sustainable practices. After the talks there will be an opportunity to try your hand at all stages of the process of flax spinning.

Niki Taylor will delve into the fascinating story of flax spinning, a practice once integral to Scotland’s textile industry. She will highlight its positive environmental impact and guide you in trying your hand at spinning flax, reconnecting with this age-old craft. Meanwhile, Lindsey Stewart Sherrod will explore the surprising benefits of decomposing wool for soil health and composting. She will share how unused wool can enrich the land, and you’ll leave with a handmade seed bomb to plant and nourish using repurposed wool.

This is a perfect opportunity to connect with Scotland’s textile heritage, discover sustainable techniques, and leave inspired to make a positive impact on the environment.

The event will take place at Paisley Central Library, Book via the Paisley Central Library’s website
