Weaving Song Workshop at Remode, 22nd April, 6 – 8pm

Write a weaver’s song with poet Jim Ferguson and singer Rebecca María

Poet Jim Ferguson and singer Rebecca María lead a workshop exploring the songs and poetry of Scotland’s mill workers. Drawing from the voices of the past, including Mary Brooksbank’s “Jute Mill Song”, and the testimonies of Paisley’s mill women, the session looks into the traditions of working-class storytelling.

Jim Ferguson reflects on the poetry of Paisley weaver and bard, Robert Tannahill, while Rebecca María guides the shaping of a new song that reflects themes of work, struggle, and solidarity.

Let’s make a weaving song to commemorate the workers of Paisley’s mills!
