Join us for an 8 week block of quilting workshops. The project will be documented and shared through the next instalment of our zine, CLOUT! #8 Quilted! Open to all ages.
Quilts can be powerful mediums for telling stories about love, craftsmanship, domestic histories, intergenerational care, collective action, resilience and more! They are crafted textile objects that in order to produce by hand, require much thought, care and patience.
During this 8 week block of workshops, you will engage with and learn about some of the ways quilting has been used to inspire, comfort, and connect people – from early Redwork fundraising quilts to the largest ever community art project, the AIDS memorial quilt. Through these workshops you will learn the basic methods of patchwork quilting and work collaboratively on our own community quilt project.
Thursdays 6-8pm. 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st August and 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th September.
No experience necessary.
This workshop series is part of ReMode’s project, The Change Room.
*PLEASE NOTE* Our new ReMode studio is situated on the second floor and only accessible via stairs. If you have access requirements please leave a comment when booking your place and we can arrange for an alternative location. All sign-ups will be notified if there is a venue change.
