Don’t throw it away! Come along and see if we can help you mend some everyday household objects.
This is one of a series of mending events where we’re playing host to Glasgow’s Repair Café – an antidote to throwaway culture.
Bring along a portable household item that is broken, past its best or needs some attention to get it working again and the Repair Cafe volunteers will take a look and see if they can help find a solution to save it from landfill.
Whether it’s piecing together some broken ceramics, replacing a fuse or a plug, or something a little more complex, the volunteers will be able to give advice and top tips. They’ll be able to assess whether seemingly broken items can be repaired or revived and will share some basic repair techniques.
Popular items to be mended include hair dryers, hair straighteners, kettles and other portable household and garden tools.
No need to book for this free drop in event. If the volunteers are busy with mends when you arrive, have a cup of tea and a chat while you wait to be seen.
For house rules, advice about what can be mended, or answers to other questions, see Repair Café’s FAQs on their website. https://repaircafeglasgow.org
