ReMode x Pachedu: A Kilt for Community

This collaborative piece celebrates the partnership between ReMode and Pachedu, a Renfrewshire-based charity dedicated to promoting diversity, equality, tolerance, and dignity for ethnically diverse communities across the West of Scotland. The two organisations came together to create a symbolic garment rooted in culture and identity.

Over a series of workshops, ReMode facilitator Laura Spring worked with Pachedu’s neurodiverse family group to design a unique repeat pattern combining the iconic Paisley print with vibrant Ankara fabric. This print has been transformed into a contemporary kilt that visually represents Pachedu’s presence and participation in the fabric of Paisley’s community.

The kilt itself was crafted by Jack Patton, a ReMode participant who has since trained as a kilt maker. It stands as a powerful fusion of Scottish tradition and multicultural expression — a wearable artwork that reflects unity, creativity, and belonging.
