Welcome back!
Welcome to Spring 2021 at ReMode. We’re delighted to be back up and running again.
Our shop on Paisley High Street is open again every Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm. We’re fully stocked with a fantastic selection of spring time clothes – in both our ReModed and handpicked second hand ranges. Alongside garments we’ve also got some beautiful jewellery, toiletries and other sustainable living products from guest sellers.
In the recent lockdown we took the opportunity to spruce up the place with a lick of paint and new lighting. We think our wee shop is looking great – we’d love you to pop by to say hello and take a look for yourself.
What’s next for ReMode?
In June we’re going to be launching a new 3 year programme for young people. The Change Room comprises creative activities and volunteering opportunities around a core theme of promoting and understanding sustainable clothing. Full details of how to get involved will be released on social media next month.
If you don’t fall into the 25 and under age category – don’t worry – there will still lots going on with ReMode for the wider community. Once COVID restrictions ease further we’ll be restarting our Thursday and Saturday afternoon drop-in make, mend and upcycle sessions. Details to follow once we can announce a date.
We’re delighted that we will be hosting a real in-person visit from design activist Kate Fletcher. Kate led a series of successful virtual events for us earlier this year and we’re looking forward to meeting her in the real world. Again, we’re waiting for final confirmation of a date, but June is looking good!
The growth of our volunteer programme is one of the achievements of the last year that we are we proudest of. An informal and sociable group of keen upcyclers, this group meet each week to share skills, chat and work on saving valuable resources from landfill and transforming discarded fabrics into beautiful items we sell in the shop. Volunteers learn new skills and take part in training opportunities. The group meet virtually at the moment, but we’re working on plans to get them back into the shop in a COVID safe way as soon as we can. If you’d like to find out more about volunteering with ReMode, drop an email to carolyn@remodeyouth.org
If you’re wanting to take on upcycling projects at home, we have a range of MakePacks available via our online shop – each accompanied by a “how to” video. We’re currently working on developing our Make Packs to include printed patterns and downloadable instructions – watch this space!
